Experience local Irish life in the Village of Glenarm
Enjoy a guided tour of Glenarm with one of our local guides or the Right Honourable Hector McDonnell.
Glenarm was once one of the most important ports in Ireland, besieged and controlled by Irish warlords and Normans alike.
Today, the immaculately preserved Georgian streets paved with history, a pristine river that’s teeming with wild salmon and walks with stunning panoramas of the Glens and the coast of Scotland come together to make up charming Glenarm Village.
Your guide will give you a tour of the village, regal you with stories and history of the area and introduce you to the local shop owners and people. You will visit Steenson’s jewellers, one of Ireland’s finest silver & goldsmiths, who craft the beautiful pieces used on the beloved HBO series Game of Thrones. Here at Steensons you will have the opportunity to watch the craftsmen at their intricate work.
Your tour will continue in the grounds of Glenarm Castle. You will enter the grounds through the 18th century Barbican Gate where you will enjoy your sumptuous lunch within the pristine 17th Century Glenarm Castle estate, exploring the grounds, gardens and river within.
